A year in Big Bear
It´s difficult to find a place in Southern California that experiences all four seasons. Sure, SoCal´s temperate weather can be a huge draw but some of us miss the drifting snowflakes of winter or the vibrant colors of the leaves in the fall. You´ll never be able to sled on the beach! In addition to the weather you can find some of the cleanest air in California at Big Bear. Whether for a vacation or for a lifetime ? what´s not to love about Big Bear?
Winter
For winter´s best family friendly sport, tubing, there´s no better place than the old site of Rebel Ridge. Now part of Big Bear Snow Play, this is the longest inner tubing run in Southern California, complete with a lift so you can conserve all your energy for sliding down the hill. Of course, get your fill of Big Bear´s main winter event ? skiing ? at Bear Mountain or Snow Summit, both ski resorts of note. Whether experiencing Big Bear´s mild, snow packed winters on the slopes or just admiring the view from your backyard, there´s no denying the beauty of the mountains in the winter.
Spring
The spring brings with it wildflowers and wildlife. This is a perfect time to explore Big Bear´s trails. There´s much to see and admire in the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest. It´s easy to plan a trip by foot, bike or horseback on one of our many trails. In addition to enjoying the fresh air and exercise, you might want to take a fishing pole with you and enjoy some of the best fishing available out on Big Bear Lake.
Summer
In a state known for its sunshine, summer is probably one of the best seasons to spend in Big Bear. The mountain offers a respite from extreme temperatures amidst the shade of the evergreens and the cool waters of Big Bear Lake. Where else can you get the classic California tan in the daytime while enjoying the spectacular views of the stars at night? In metropolis like Southern California, it´s a rare treat to be able to enjoy fresh air and an unobstructed night view at the same time.
Fall
In the fall, it´s easy to see why Big Bear has inspired so many artists and photographers. The hills and trails are awash with vibrant yellows and reds. Try Castle Rock Trail or The Pine Knot Trail for some of the best views of fall. Also, for the avid fisherperson, fall is the best time for bass and trout. Fall also brings Big Bear´s Oktoberfest, one of the best you´ll find in the area.
There´s no bad time to visit Big Bear as you´ll always find something to do or look at. Enjoy big bear for a visit or from your own backyard. Make sure you check out our featured listings for your next home or vacation home.
